What the FocusPilot setup questions ask, and why

Updated

The setup questions give FocusPilot a starting point: who you are, how your week runs and the one goal you most want to move. They take a few minutes, two of them are optional, and several answers can be changed later in your Profile.

The questions, in order

Each question has its own screen:

  1. What should we call you? Your first name.
  2. When were you born? and What’s your sex? Both are optional, and you can skip them.
  3. Where did you hear about us?
  4. What do you do? For example, you run a company, work in a team or work for yourself.
  5. What should FocusPilot show you? Pick all that apply, such as where your time actually goes or progress on one big goal.
  6. How many hours do you work in a week?
  7. How productive do you feel right now?
  8. What trips you up most?
  9. Your one goal. Type the goal you most want to move right now, in your own words, as an outcome you could tick off one day.
  10. How many hours a week go to your goal right now? The next screen sets that against your total hours.
  11. Sync your energy data. Continue opens your phone’s own permission screen for Apple Health or Health Connect. You can allow or decline there, and setup continues either way.
  12. Have a referral code? If a friend gave you one, enter it here. The code is applied when your account is created. Leave the field empty to move on.

What happens after the questions?

Three screens follow before you create your account.

  1. Where you stand shows an estimated starting Focus Score and the answers it came from. The estimate comes from your answers only. From your first day, your Focus Score is measured from what you actually do.
  2. You commit to a weekly number of hours for your goal with Hold to commit.
  3. When should we check in? asks for a time for one short daily check-in. Tap Turn on check-ins to allow notifications, or Not now.

Then Save your plan creates your account. How to create a FocusPilot account covers that step.

What does FocusPilot do with my goal?

FocusPilot turns your goal into a goal in Goals, with three first steps spread over this week and a deadline four weeks out. The first step is due today and shows on Home’s For today list, ready to tick. You can change the goal, its steps and its deadline at any time.

Can I change my answers later?

Yes. Open your Profile and tap About you. Your role, your weekly work hours, the hours on your goal and what trips you up can all be changed there, along with your birthday.
