How to start a focus session in FocusPilot

Updated

Start a focus session from the Focus sessions card on Home: pick the Timer, Stopwatch, Counter or Audio and start it. Timer and Stopwatch sessions count toward the Deep work part of your Focus Score.

Which focus tools are there?

  • Timer: work in a set block of time. When it ends, you see “Time’s up”.
  • Stopwatch: count up while you work.
  • Counter: count reps as you go.
  • Audio: sound for your focus, with four choices: Nature, Forest, Rain and Lo-Fi.

Start a session

  1. Scroll to Focus sessions on Home.
  2. Tap a tool.
  3. For the Timer, set the length. For Audio, pick a sound.
  4. Start it. You can pause, resume or reset it from the same screen.

Each finished session appears on Home’s Timeline with its tool and minutes.

What happens when I leave the app?

The session keeps running when you switch to another app or lock your phone. On Android, a notification shows the running session and lets you control it without opening FocusPilot.

Do focus sessions count toward my Focus Score?

The Timer and the Stopwatch count toward the Deep work part of your Focus Score. The Counter and Audio do not: a count of reps or a playing sound says nothing about protected time.

A session counts once it ends, and sessions under five minutes are left out. Deep work compares your total minutes for the day with 90 minutes, and your longest unbroken session with 45 minutes. So one long block scores higher than the same minutes in pieces.

Deep work is one of four parts of the Focus Score. The Insights section explains the others.
