How to use For today and the Timeline on Home
Updated
For today is everything you need to do today in one list: your goals and tasks due today, a few daily habits and any lines you add yourself. The Timeline below it shows what you have actually done today, in the order it happened.
What is on the For today list?
From the top:
- Today’s Read, Set goals & tasks and, while a Brief is ready or its plan is running, Mentor Brief.
- The goals and tasks due today.
- Any lines you added yourself.
- Talk to Mentor and Journal entry, at the end.
The rows at the top and the end tick themselves when the thing exists: a read for today, a goal or task created today, a message to the Mentor today, a journal entry today. Tap one of them to go and do it.
For a goal or task, tap its circle: the first tap marks it in progress, the second marks it done. Done rows stay in the list, crossed out.
To open For today from any tab, tap the + in the tab bar and choose For today. When the list is empty, it reads “All clear for today”.
How do I add my own items to For today?
- At the end of For today, tap Add to today.
- Type the line and confirm.
- Tap its circle when it is done.
Your own lines are a quick list for the day. They are kept on this phone only and belong to the day you added them. Because nothing on our servers knows about them, ticking one does not count for your streak, your Activity or the Mentor.
How do I turn a line into a task or goal?
Tap the line’s ⋯ and choose:
- Add as task, which puts it in your Goals Inbox
- Add as goal, which makes it a goal of its own
- Delete, which removes it
Once it is a task or a goal, it counts like any other work. How goals and tasks work explains the Inbox.
What does the Timeline show?
The Timeline lists what happened today, in the order it happened:
- Task done
- Goal achieved
- Journal entry
- Mentor chat
- Today’s Read
- Focus sessions, with the tool and the minutes
- Brief added to your goals
Before anything happens, it reads “Nothing logged yet today.” The Timeline only records what you did, so there is no way to add an event by hand.
How do I see the full day?
Tap View full day on the Timeline. The day opens as an hour grid, with each event under the hour it happened. Hours after midnight appear at the end, because FocusPilot’s day runs until 4:00.
To see the Timeline of an earlier day, tap that day in the week strip at the top of Home.
