What does Today's Read ask?

Updated

Today’s Read asks about your energy, how clear your thinking is, what today is asking of you and what kind of day it is, then one optional question that changes from day to day and an optional note. Each question has its own screen.

The questions, in order

  1. Energy. “Where’s your head this morning?” In the afternoon and evening the wording follows the clock. Pick one of five levels, from Empty to Charged.
  2. Clarity. “How clear is your thinking?” Foggy, Scattered, Neutral, Clear or Sharp.
  3. Load. “What’s today asking of you?” Light, Moderate, Packed or Unpredictable.
  4. The kind of day. “What kind of day is it?” Pick up to three: Deep work, Big decisions, Back-to-back people, Deadline pressure, Putting out fires, Small stuff piling up, Big questions about direction or Open calendar. The options stand in columns, so swipe sideways to see them all.
  5. Today’s lens. One extra question that changes from day to day, such as “How did you sleep?” or “How much is riding on today?” It is optional.
  6. A note. “Anything the read should know?” Write a line or two, up to 280 characters, or leave it.

Then tap Build my read.

A question with one answer moves on by itself after you tap, and the back arrow returns to the question before.

Why are energy and clarity two questions?

They often split. A tired but clear morning and a wired but scattered one call for different days, and one scale could not tell them apart.

Answer for the morning you have. The read takes your answers as you give them and never guesses them. Your clarity answer also becomes the Clarity part of that day’s Focus Score.

What if the read cannot be built?

Your answers are kept, and you can try again. When you are offline, the screen tells you before anything is sent, so you can build the read once you are back online.
