How to create a goal from notes, voice or a file

Tap the black + at the top right of Goals to open Extract goals. Paste or dictate your notes, or add a photo or a file, and Mentor turns them into goals and tasks. You check the result, and nothing is saved until you tap Add.

Create goals with Extract goals

1. Tap the black + at the top right of Goals.
2. Add your input. You can combine notes with one attachment:
   • Type or paste notes into the field. Messy is fine.
   • Hold the mic to dictate. Your words appear as you talk and are added to what you already typed. Slide left to discard the recording.
   • Tap + to add one attachment (see the next section).
3. Send it. The sheet shows “Mentor is reading…” while it works.
4. Review what Mentor found: each goal with its category, deadline and tasks. Filled in marks what Mentor added by itself, and Check this marks what it was unsure about.
5. Take out anything that is off.
6. Tap Add.

A task that fits none of your goals goes to your Inbox.

Which files can I add?

The sheet’s + offers three choices:

• Camera scans paper, up to four pages.
• Photos adds one image.
• Files adds one PDF, Word (.docx), text, Markdown or CSV file, or an image.

You can add one attachment at a time, and notes alongside it.

What if Mentor finds no goal?

The sheet says “Looks like there’s no goal in here.” Try again takes you back with your notes and file still there, so you can add a line about what you want.

Can I change an existing goal the same way?

Yes.

1. In Goals, swipe the goal to the right.
2. Tap Edit with Mentor. Extract goals opens with “Changing:” and the goal’s name.
3. Say or type what should change.
4. Review the changes. Your goal stays as it is until you tap Update.

To create a new goal instead, remove the goal from the sheet with its X.

Why can’t Mentor read my notes?

Extract goals sends what you give it to OpenAI and Anthropic to structure it into goals. It only works while Share Goals with AI is on:

1. Tap your picture at the top right of Home to open your Profile.
2. Tap Preferences.
3. Under Privacy, check Share Goals with AI.
