Missed deadlines: pause, drop or reschedule a goal
Updated
Not every goal ends with a tick. You can pause a goal and resume it later, drop a goal you decide to stop, and reschedule a goal that missed its deadline within seven days. None of these is treated as a failure.
Pause and resume a goal
- Press and hold the goal.
- Tap Pause goal.
A paused goal stays at the end of the Active list in a Paused group, so it is not forgotten. It is never counted as missed, and its circle does not advance.
To bring it back, press and hold it and tap Resume goal. If its deadline passed while it was paused, FocusPilot asks you for a new date first.
Drop and restore a goal
- Press and hold the goal.
- Tap Drop goal.
- FocusPilot asks “Drop this goal?” and reminds you that you can restore it any time. Tap Drop.
A dropped goal leaves the Active list and waits in a Dropped group under your completed goals. To bring it back, open it there and tap Restore.
Pausing or dropping a goal never breaks your streak.
What happens when I miss a deadline?
A goal or task that is still open when its deadline passes moves to Missed. There is no penalty and nothing turns red.
The Missed tab has two parts:
- Last 7 days: anything missed in the last seven days. You can still change these.
- Archive: anything missed longer ago. You can still open and read these, but no longer change them.
Inside each part, missed work is grouped by when it was due. Delete all clears the archive and keeps the goals from the last seven days.
A task that was due on a day and stayed open means that day does not count for your streak. How the streak works explains the rest.
Reschedule a missed goal
- Open the Missed tab.
- Under Last 7 days, swipe the goal to the right.
- Tap Reschedule and pick a new deadline.
