Do you need to connect a health app?

No. Goals, the journal, the Mentor, Today’s Read, the Focus Score and the Trajectory all work without health data. Connecting Apple Health or Health Connect adds your sleep and activity to four places in the app.

What connecting adds

• Insights: the Health section shows your sleep per night.
• Today’s Read: last night’s sleep, yesterday’s steps and, on iPhone, your resting heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV), each compared with your own average over the last seven days. See What data does Today’s Read use?
• Mentor Brief: health becomes one of the four pillars. It joins the reading after three days of data, and only a pattern that repeats against your own range counts. See When do you get a Mentor Brief?
• Mentor chats: a short summary, such as last night’s sleep against your weekly average, while Share Health data with AI is on.

FocusPilot reads only the data types you allow, and you can stop access at any time. What it reads on each platform is in What health data does FocusPilot read?

The sleep chart on Insights

The Sleep card shows the time you were asleep per night, on average, for the timeframe you picked at the top of Insights (This week, This month or This year), with the number of nights it covers.

• A night counts on the morning it ends.
• If a watch and a phone both record the same night, it is counted once.
• The chart shows the hours as recorded, with no score and no comparison to a norm.

Before you connect, the card reads “Connect your health app to see the trend here.” If nothing was recorded in the timeframe, it says “Nothing recorded in this timeframe.”

How to connect

• On iPhone: Connect Apple Health to FocusPilot.
• On Android: Connect Health Connect on Android.

You may already be connected if you answered the health question when you set up FocusPilot. In Profile, the Apple Health or Google Health Connect row says Connected when it is.
