Send a file, photo or voice message to the Mentor
Updated
You can hand the Mentor a document, a photo or your voice instead of typing. It reads the file and answers your question about it in the same chat.
Send a file or a photo
- In a Mentor chat, tap + next to the message field.
- Choose Camera to take a photo, Gallery to pick one, or Attach a file.
- Type your question, for example “What does this deck mean for this week’s goals?”, and send.
Which files the Mentor can read
| Kind | Formats |
|---|---|
| Documents | PDF, Word (.docx) |
| Spreadsheets | Excel (.xlsx), CSV |
| Text | plain text, Markdown |
| Pictures | images from your camera or gallery |
If a file is a type the Mentor cannot read, or is too large, it tells you in the chat. Send a smaller file, or only the part you need. A scanned PDF that holds only pictures of pages may not be readable; a photo of the page works better.
Send a voice message
- Press and hold the microphone next to the message field.
- Speak.
- Let go. Your words are transcribed into a message.
To cancel while you are still holding, slide your finger to the left.
When the camera, microphone or a message fails
If the camera or the microphone is blocked for FocusPilot, the app says so and offers Open Settings, where you can allow it.
If a message does not go through, the chat shows Retry under it. Nothing from the failed message is kept, so a second try does not send it twice.
