Why am I not getting notifications?
Updated
Notifications usually stop because they are off on your phone, a category is switched off, or the reminder falls in your quiet hours. Go through the checks below in order and stop when one fixes it.
1. Allow notifications on your phone
- Open your Profile (on Home, tap your profile picture at the top right) and tap Notifications.
- If a card says “Notifications are off”, tap Open system settings and allow notifications for FocusPilot.
- If the card offers Enable notifications instead, tap it and allow them when your phone asks.
Your phone can also hold notifications back. Check that no Focus, such as Do Not Disturb, is on (iPhone), or that Do Not Disturb is off (Android).
2. Check the category
On the same screen, under Categories, make sure the kind you are missing is switched on. Then tap Individual notifications and check that the single notification you want is not turned off there. The row shows how many are off. See Choose which FocusPilot notifications you get.
3. Check your quiet hours
Under Delivery, look at Quiet hours start and Quiet hours end. A goal or task reminder set inside quiet hours arrives when they end, unless you chose Deliver at this time when you set it.
4. Check the reminder itself
Open the goal or task and check that its reminder is still set and in the future. A paused goal sends no reminders until you resume it.
5. Remember the daily limit
FocusPilot sends at most five notifications a day, your reminders included, and pauses a kind for a few days if you leave it unopened several times in a row. Opening the ones you want keeps them coming. The full rule is in How many notifications does FocusPilot send?
6. After travelling to another time zone
After you arrive, open FocusPilot once so it picks up your phone’s new time zone. A goal without Floating time stays on the time zone it was set in, so its reminders can arrive earlier or later. See Time zone and travel.
If a location reminder is the one that did not arrive, see Why didn’t my location reminder work?
