Why didn't my location reminder work?

Updated

A location reminder needs FocusPilot to see your precise location in the background. On iPhone, set location access to Always and turn on Precise Location; on Android, choose Allow all the time and turn on Use precise location.

What the message on the place sheet means

When something is missing, the place sheet on the goal or task says what:

  • “Location access is off for FocusPilot.”
  • “Reminders need Precise Location.”
  • “To remind you when you arrive or leave, set location access to “Allow all the time”.”
  • “Your location isn’t available right now.”

Tap Open Settings under the message, or change the setting yourself as below.

Fix it on iPhone

  1. Open Settings and tap FocusPilot.
  2. Tap Location.
  3. Choose Always and switch on Precise Location.

Check that Location Services is on under Privacy & Security in Settings.

Fix it on Android

  1. Open your phone’s Settings and tap Apps, then FocusPilot.
  2. Tap Permissions, then Location.
  3. Choose Allow all the time and switch on Use precise location.

Check that location is on in your quick settings.

Check the reminder

Open the goal or task, look at the place, and check that it is set to remind you when Arriving or Leaving, whichever you meant.

Your phone decides when you have arrived or left, so a reminder can come a few minutes after you cross the edge of the place. Notifications must be allowed too. See Why am I not getting notifications?

If a reminder still does not fire after all of this, contact support and tell us your phone model and the place you used.
