How FocusPilot uses AI, and how to turn it off

Some FocusPilot features send what you write to OpenAI or Anthropic so they can answer you. You can turn this off area by area in your Profile, under Preferences, then Privacy.
Which features use AI
These features send your input to OpenAI or Anthropic:
- the Mentor chat
- Today’s Read
- the Mentor Brief
- the journal’s Mentor actions
- goal capture from voice, photos or text
Under their API terms these providers do not use your data to train their models. They keep it for a limited time, generally up to 30 days, for security and abuse monitoring. AI answers can be wrong and are not medical advice.
Turn AI off for goals, journal or health data
- Open your Profile: on Home, tap your profile picture at the top right.
- Tap Preferences.
- Under Privacy, switch off the areas you want to keep out.
What each switch does:
- Share Goals with AI: with it off, FocusPilot no longer turns what you say, photograph or type into goals with AI. You can still add goals yourself.
- Share Journal with AI: with it off, the journal’s Mentor actions (Go deeper, Reflect and the others) are turned off. Writing and saving entries works as before.
- Share Health data with AI: with it off, your health data (sleep, heart rate, recovery) is left out of every Mentor conversation. Mentor chat, Today’s Read and the Brief keep working.
Keep your journal out of the Mentor
Two more switches under Mentor on the same screen control your journal:
- Journal in Mentor chat decides whether your check-ins and journal signals can shape the Mentor’s replies.
- Journal for the Mentor Brief decides whether the Brief may read your entries from the last 14 days. The text itself is not stored.
Clear your Mentor conversations
To delete what the Mentor remembers, tap Reset Mentor memory on the same screen. Every chat with the Mentor is deleted, and the Mentor starts without a history of your conversations. Your journal, goals and check-ins stay.
