Change your preferences and app language
Updated
Preferences holds the settings for how FocusPilot behaves: haptics and sounds, the AI privacy switches, the Mentor’s settings, goal recommendations and the app language. Open your Profile (tap your profile picture at the top right of Home) and tap Preferences. Changes save as you make them.
What you can change in Preferences
The screen has five groups.
- Effects: Haptic feedback and Sounds. See the next section.
- Privacy: Share Goals with AI, Share Journal with AI and Share Health data with AI. See How FocusPilot uses AI, and how to turn it off.
- Mentor: Journal for the Mentor Brief, Journal in Mentor chat, Mentor tone (Balanced, Direct or Gentle), Answer length (Adaptive, Short or Detailed) and Reset Mentor memory. See Change the Mentor’s tone and answer length.
- Goal recommendations: three switches for what a suggested goal may draw on. Use journal and check-ins reads entry titles and check-in answers, never the text of an entry. Use insights and trajectory reads your trajectory and recent Today’s Reads. Use connected health data reads sleep, as supporting context only.
- System: Language and System permissions, which opens FocusPilot’s page in your phone’s settings.
If the Mentor settings cannot load, a line says so. Tap it to try again.
Turn off haptics or sounds
Haptic feedback is the light taps you feel as you use the app. With it off, you feel no haptic feedback anywhere in FocusPilot.
Sounds covers reminders and celebrations. Sounds you start yourself, such as a voice note or focus audio, still play with it off.
Change the app language
FocusPilot is available in English and German. The language is set in your phone’s settings, and the app follows it.
- Open your Profile and tap Preferences.
- Under System, tap Language, then App language.
- Your phone’s settings open on FocusPilot’s page. Choose English or German.
On iPhone, the language option is on FocusPilot’s page in the Settings app. On Android 13 and later, the app language page opens directly. On older Android versions, which have no language setting per app, FocusPilot follows your phone’s language, so change it in your phone’s language settings.
