Set reminders for goals and tasks
Updated
You can remind yourself of a goal or task at a time, before its deadline, or when you arrive at or leave a place. Reminders arrive as notifications, so FocusPilot needs permission to send them.
Set a time reminder
- When you create a goal, tap the card’s + and choose Reminder. On an existing goal, open it and add the reminder there.
- In the Reminders sheet, pick one of the four kinds below.
- Tap Save.
You can add several reminders and remove any of them again.
Which reminders can I choose?
- Suggestions: In 5 minutes, Later today, Tomorrow morning, This Monday and Every Monday, plus 1 week before deadline, Day before deadline and On the deadline once there is a deadline.
- Date & time: any day and time you choose.
- Before deadline: a set time before the deadline. It needs a deadline first.
- Before task: a set time before a task starts. It needs a date and a time first.
If a reminder does not arrive, check that notifications for FocusPilot are allowed in your phone’s settings.
How do location reminders work?
A location reminder fires when you arrive at or leave a place, even when FocusPilot is closed.
- When you create a goal, tap the card’s + and choose Location. On an existing goal, open it and tap Location.
- Search for a place, enter an address or tap Current location.
- Under Remind me, choose Arriving or Leaving.
- The first time, FocusPilot explains why it needs your location in the background. Tap Continue and allow access in your phone’s prompt.
What do location reminders need?
Your phone has to share your precise location with FocusPilot at all times:
- iPhone: location access set to Always, with Precise Location on.
- Android: location access set to Allow all the time, with precise location on.
If access is off, the sheet says “Location access is off for FocusPilot.” with Open Settings. If precise location is off, it says “Reminders need Precise Location.”
