Use the Mentor in your journal
Updated
The Mentor can work on what you write in the journal: it can take your writing further, push back on an idea or put scattered thoughts in order. Tap the Mentor button in the editor to use it.
On a check-in or prompt entry
- Write at least a sentence. The Mentor works only on what you have written.
- Tap the Mentor button at the top of the editor.
- Choose an action:
- Go deeper: one question that takes your writing further.
- Help me reflect: a short mirror of what you wrote, ending in one question.
- Challenge my idea: the Mentor pushes back on what you have written.
On a Sort thoughts page
On a Sort thoughts page, the Mentor button sits at the bottom right and works on your own text:
- Structure thoughts and Clarify a decision each add a block you can edit.
- Find my next move adds one line.
- Clean up writing replaces your writing with a tidied version.
On either kind of page, the Mentor’s text goes into the entry in a different ink from yours, so you can always tell which sentences are your own.
The switch these actions need
These actions send the entry to FocusPilot’s AI providers, so they need Share Journal with AI to be on:
- Open Profile from your picture on Home.
- Tap Preferences.
- Under Privacy, turn on Share Journal with AI.
With it off, writing and saving work as usual, and the Mentor actions tell you that journal sharing is off. Who else can read your entries is in Who can read your journal?
