Record a decision and review it later
Updated
A Decision page in the journal holds a decision, the options you weighed and why you chose, then brings it back on a review date so you can see how it turned out.
Start a decision
- On the Journal tab, tap the black + and choose Decision. It goes straight to the page, with no check-in.
- At the top, write the question: “What decision are you trying to make?”
- Under Options, tap Add an option for each choice you are weighing. Each option can carry a note (“Why this option?”), and you can move it up or down or delete it.
- Open the sections you need and fill them in: Reasoning & assumptions, What could change my mind? and Expected outcome & review.
Test your thinking with Decision tools
Tap Decision tools at the bottom right. It offers seven ways in:
| Tool | What the Mentor gives you |
|---|---|
| Clarify the decision | the vague question turned into one sentence you can act on |
| Find real options | alternatives you have not named yet, including the uncomfortable ones |
| Compare trade-offs | what each option costs and buys, side by side |
| Challenge my thinking | the assumptions and blind spots behind your lean |
| Stress-test the plan | how the choice holds up when things go wrong |
| Define a reversible test | the smallest step that tells you more without locking you in |
| Prepare the conversation | what to say, to whom, and what you need from them |
You decide what to keep from each answer: Insert below, Add as option, Copy or Dismiss. The tools need at least a sentence or one option to work with.
Mark it decided
- Tap the check mark and choose Mark decided.
- In Record your decision, write what you decided and, if you like, Why this is the best call now.
- Set your Confidence: Low, Medium or High.
- Under Review, pick In 1 week, Choose date or No review needed.
- Tap Mark decided.
Save draft keeps the decision open, so you can come back before you choose. The entry shows Open or Decided, your confidence and the review date.
Review the decision
On the review date, FocusPilot sends one notification at 9:00 your time. Tap it and the entry opens at its review. You can also open the entry from the Journal; the review waits at the top.
The review reads your decision back to you (“You decided: …”) and asks What happened?: Better than expected, About as expected, Worse than expected or Still unfolding. Two optional lines follow: What did you learn? and What would you do differently next time?
Tap Done to save the review with the entry. Only the outcome is required. Later puts the review away without saving anything. Once reviewed, the entry is marked Reviewed, and its summary shows your decision, why it was the best call, the options you considered and how it turned out.
